At Parenti-Morris Eyecare, we have been dedicated to serving our community and beyond for 50 years since opening our doors. Ensuring quality eye care for all and being involved in the northwest Arkansas community is essential to who we are as a practice and drives all that we do!
Our History of Seeing Our World and Initiating Change in Our World
Our founding optometrist, Dr. Pete Parenti, has created a legacy of giving back with his Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) trips to locations in Guatemala, Nepal, and across the African continent. Dr. Parenti would pack up our practice — including separating and labeling 25000 pairs of glasses — with a team of seven other optometrists and two ophthalmologists, visiting refugee camps in rough terrain to provide 3500 people with crucial treatment.
News of the free eye care spread far and wide, and Dr. Parenti treated more patients than he could ever have imagined as he was bargaining with customs in Kathmandu. His mission work was incredibly rewarding and necessary, and it has shaped our values as a practice to continue on his work with our local and international trips.
We Are Proud to Serve Our Community and Beyond
We’re carrying on Dr. Parenti’s legacy with our involvement in northwest Arkansas. Dr. Morris works with Help One Now, a
nonprofit organization that empowers families living in extreme poverty with proven solutions in tandem with local
leaders. Through his work with Help One Now, Dr. Morris is helping continue Dr. Parenti’s legacy of seeing and changing
the world.
As part of our mission, we have the goal of opening a vision care clinic in La Vega, Dominican Republic, alongside our
partnership with Help
One Now. By raising $90000, we’ll be able to establish the clinic and provide eye exams for over 500 students at
partner schools by providing supplies, equipment, and covering operational costs for the first two years. This cause is
near and dear to us, as it helps to make the world a better place through the power of community impact!
We Are Proud to Serve Our Community and Beyond
We stay involved right here in northwest Arkansas through our partnerships with various organizations, including the
nonprofit Saving Grace. Saving Grace
works to break the cycle of generational poverty, creating safe and stable places for young women and girls who are
facing homelessness or have aged out of foster care to call home. We also have volunteered and worked with Micah’s
House, now known as Empower NWA. Micah’s House provides housing assistance and mentoring via their Just1 Host Home Initiative
to teach living skills and providing donations to homeless youth. Learn more about how you can volunteer or donate
